Mystical hope is a constant source of joy and passion for life. Holiness is found in selfless action, in the ordinary, and in knowing that the Divine is present all in all.

Julian remains dangerous because so much religion depends on convincing people that shame is spiritually productive. Then this plague-surviving woman looks into the heart of Christ and finds no divine disgust, no celestial probation officer, not even a disappointed sigh. She refuses to make God resemble the catastrophe around her. Perhaps that is the real scandal of “all will be well”: not that suffering is imaginary, but that suffering cannot turn Love into its own image. The world may wound us terribly. It still does not get to tell us who God is.

Julian is my favorite if for no other reason, than her simplicity. She just speaks her truth and it connect with me. Thanks for all your translation work and guidance. I’m excited to read this version and experience Julian anew.

Mirabai, I'm Cristina Nosti, the Events & Programming director for Books & Books, an independently-owned bookstore in Miami. I've long admired your work and wonder if you might want to visit us some day for a talk/signing and/or workshop. We'd love to host you! We often partner with a very progressive church, Coral Gables Congregational Church, where we could present you and work together with them to assure great attendance and book sales.

My email is Cristina@booksandbooks.com

Write to me, if you are interested in pursuing. Thank you for your life's work!

Thank you for writing this. And bringing up the life of Julian. I came across her last year and loved what I found. I read a book called "The Anchoress", a fictional tale based on her life and it really seemed to bring her experience into more understanding for me.

I love what you say about "missing the mark" instead of sin. I have been looking at direct translations from Aramaic and there is no word sin but "missing the mark". I have also seen the feminine in the Trinity, and have had amazing visions of hope and compassion when I have been in the depths of despair. Only three months ago I woke up unable to walk. During my convalescence I had healing visions from Mother Mary and Mary of Magdala and Jesus. I am now fully recovered to the amazement of my doctor and those who witnessed the stages of my recovery and read my stories each day as they happened. The Divine Feminine is rising because the world now needs to get back into balance.

Bless you and all those who are opening their hearts to the compassion and love and mercy of the Divine Feminine aspect now shining upon us all. May we finally work out the target. 🙏💕

I love Julian and her work. I visited her cell in Norwich several years ago. Her actual space had been destroyed (by fire, perhaps?), yet the space was still permeated with her lovely and loving wisdom. I think she found nonduality and described it in her book. All spirituality has as bedrock the experiential knowing of oneness, and she expresses that so exquisitely and diplomatically in the Christian context of her time.

Thank you, Jill. I so agree. Glad you got to visit her cell too. ❤️

“Sin has no substance, not a particle of being, and can only be detected by the pain it causes.” When we make mistakes and create suffering, we humble ourselves, and God loves us all the more.”

Thank you, Mirabai… This is so beautiful and gives us a lifetime of practice ... and being loved all the more for our willingness to practice.
