In Japanese we say all of this with a bowed head and one word: itadaikimasu. It is an all encompassing gratitude for the web of source and sustenance.

I love this, Amaranth. Sometimes my only words at mealtime are a deep “thank you.” It, too, encompasses the gratitude you speak of.
